My fair is just a little over a month away and lastnight my steer was at our wash rack and when I went to turn him he kinda slipped/twisted his leg. The part right above his hoof appears to be swollen pretty bad. I was wondering if you have any suggestions on what to do or should I call the vet and ask him to come out? Thanks for your help

not really, but the sooner her gets treatment started, the sooner he will heal. Hopefully it is just a sprain and will be gone in a week or so. let us know how it turns out

One thing you can do is run cold water on it to help with swelling.    Like for 20 minutes.  We did that with our horses.  Otherwise, rest and see what your vet says tomorrow.  Best of luck.

I would NOT do alternating warm and cold water yet.......

Cold only for fifteen to twenty at a time for the first 72 hours at least.  Hopefully just a sprain,      Heat will make swelling worse at onset.....

Vet came out today and we walked him all around then put him in the chute and he felt all over his front legs and checked his hooves and said there is nothing major wrong and that it is jus twisted/sprained it and that he should be back to normal in a few weeks so we should be good!!
