He froze on only the second time we tried, and now we have limited semen available on him.  I know that it's late for most of this year, but I think he would work for steers down south too, so maybe all you fall calving guys could take a look at him.

Congrats Justin. Your bull looks awesome. Kinda hard to keep on AIen when you have that good of a bull standing back waiting his turn.
Sailing On froze @ Nichols last Monday @ 13 months old, but like you said, it's late. Hope we can get him in a few cows so that we can get an idea of what he may work best on. Brent

Hey thanks a bunch Brent.  We're gonna let him breed about 6 cows I think (almost half of ours) and then clean up what doesn't stick AI or ET. If his calves are as good as what we think they will be, we'll try to promote him quite a bit next year.  We have him up at Interglobe until tomorrow, and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but I feel that he's as good as anything they have up there.

Just to remind everyone, this is a defect free son of Wernacres Ace High, and out of a Sonny cow.  He was actually a twin and still posted a 1200 lb actual yearling weight and 40 cm testicles.  He doesn't have body hair like he did this winter (he still has gobs), but he still has just as much leg hair. To be honest, he has the more leg hair than any other THF sire we've used, and we're really excited to see some calves out of him.  I don't want to forget to include that the Vogel family also have a semen interest in "RD" as we call him and we're glad that we got the chance to buy such a good bull from them.  He was Reserve Bull at National Polled Congress this year to boot!

Good thing that I don't have anything up at Interglobe right now or my feelings might be hurt... (lol)   Just kidding.  That's a nice bull!  Glad that he froze.

Lol..don't worry TJ, we brought home some Doc since we were up there!  We'll be getting the Double Vision bred to him soon.  Can you see the Purple yet?

I'm thinking that the competition at the percentage shows is going to get tougher & tougher, but mating that Double Vision heifer to Doc, certainly has the potential to be cracker jack!

Red Diamond does look awfully good... I hope you do well with him!

Glad to hear it ,Justin!! He looks good Justin! Are you going to show him this summer?

Yeah, we'll have him at the IL and IA State Fairs, and then definitely NAILE, possibly World Beef and American Royal too.

Justin, your bull looks great. I told Phillip Raisback [ Hi- View Shorthorns] that you had him pictured. He said he would sure look him up.

Bull looks good Justin.  Not having as much hair now is actually a good thing, the ones that can't shuck that body hair have a hard time keeping condition in the hot summer months.  Good luck with him!

Thanks for the nice comments guys!  I know that not having as much body hair is a good thing, but it's kinda hard to grasp how much hair this bull had.  He might not have had as much as like Walks Alone or Warrant, but he still has some darn good shag.

Anyhow, thanks again everyone, and hopefully we'll have a very good calving report on him this time next year.

Justin, is RD a half sib to Ace of Diamonds or is he closer related than that? I saw some very good Ace Of Diamond calves that Vogel's had out about 10 days ago. Brent

He's a half sib, they have the same daddy (and breeder).  He is out of a Sonny cow though, which Ace of Diamonds is working very very well on.  I won't lie, I was kind of disappointed with my AoD calf for the first couple days, but man oh man has he come on in the last couple weeks.  He is STOUT and looks like he's going to be an awesome steer (or bull if someone wishes).  I can't wait to get out to Vogel's to see their calves this year.

I am glad he froze Justin.  I know you guys are anxious to see his calves and I can't wait to see them too, even though I don't show Shorty's.

You got a nice looking bull there Justin--I guess I told you that some time ago, though.  You also have some good people to work with in Todd and Kris.  I'll be  looking for you at the Iowa State Fair if I don't see you before then.  Good Luck with him!!
