Hock Swelling

i have a steer who got a cut on his hock a couple days ago.  it is starting to swell a little bit and the county fair is in two weeks.  is there anything I can do or give hime to make the swelling go down?  He is not going to be slaughter until later this fall so I won't have to worry about drug wihtdrawl.

you should talk to your vet and see what he/she recommends.

Run the hose 6 to 8 times a day over it.  Depending on how bad it is a little bute or banamine won't hurt it.  Just watch that stuff, you can mess up their stomach

thanks for the advice.  Out vet seems to think its only a little swelling and says we shouldn't worry about it.  He is not really into the whole show steer thing

banamine is great. when my heifer had her problems, we gave her banamine and the pepto-bismol stuff every day. that way, the banamine didn't burn her mouth, throat, and stomach.
