I'm not sure what happened to the other thread on this topic but it is completely blank on my computer. Anyways, The entire sale offering is now posted on the sale site www.edjeauctions.com. It took me a few days ( and nights) to sort through the inventory and come up with this offering, and I am certain this has to be the best set and most complegte set we have ever offered.
Check out our minimum pregnancy rate guarantee which I think is one of the best in the business, as well as our delivery assistance offer. The delivery offer is a new feature, but we decided to offer this so our buyers have a better idea of what the costs will be to get their purchases home.

We  are offering two flushes in this sale. One is a flushmate sister to HC FL Touchdown 123T ET X* that we own with Shady Lane of SP fame. Touchdown is now being marketed in Canada and the US by Genex. This donor is HC Lady Louisa 12T x*.

The second flush is from a cow we call Thunder Thighs. She is a Simmental X Red Angus cow that came here as a recip. She is an incredible cow and we have sold two flushes to clubby breeders from her. We plan to flush her ourselves lagter this year. Both these cows are capable of producing some good clubby offspring.

So how does one decide how long to leave the bidding open when you set up an online sale? I know of one online sale with a bid off and it's been open for 2 months but won't most of the bidding be at the end of last day just like Durhams for Denver? I was looking at Lovings website as I thought they had an online auction but just a listing of bulls.

Are the prices on the right the minimum bid? Almost 5800 visitirs so far!

Yes,the prices on the right are the minimum bid lor if there are bids on the lot already, the price on the right is the next acceptable bid. On most lots the bids increase by $50 to a certain point, then increase by lower amounts.. much like in a real sale. I understand that you can buy some embryos for less money, but we offer a minimum pregnancy rate of 50% at 70 days providing an experienced embryo tech is used. We are also delivering the embryos to a central US stud which represents a considerable cost, and we are paying the first $400 on shipments to other countries. Everything considered, I think our opening bids are quite reasonable.

We have had lots of interest, but time will tell how many we sell. We have issued more bidders numbers than at anytime in the past, from all across Canada and the US, as well as Scotland, England, Australia as well as Turkey. At first I thought the Turkish request for a bidders number was not real, but I am now thinking this guy is legit. We were unable to find out what exactly the import requirements are for Turkey, so this guy has agreed not to bid in this sale and if possible will try to buy some after the sale.

Thanks everyone who bid or bought in our online sale. I'm not sure why, but we always end up selling as many embryos and semen privately during and after the sale as we do in the sale itself. As of right now, we have sold $24250 of embryos and semen. A set of 16 embryos sold to Scotland during the sale as the buyer wanted Major Leroy embryos and there were none in the sale. We also sold another 12 vials of Super Flag semen to Australia but seeing that this semen is not exportable, he intends to flush with the semen here and we will export the embryos over there. There were buyers from several states and provinces in the sale and we appreciate all the support.\

There was almost 6700 hits on the sale site which I think is pretty amazing!

I think I got the 3T embryos and Jaimie the 20P embryos. Interesting that 20P is by CCS Shoshone discussed in the Shorty heifer bulls thread.
I have been in disgrace with the girls ever since 2000 when they felt I should have bought New Beginnings Elsie's Jade instead of letting Grant "steal her"(honest Grant I tried to explain that placing the high bid was not theft!). I'm sure she has been better used at JIT's considering she has offspring world wide now. At the time we still owned Jay-cie Dr. Elsie 4D so had hoped to recreate Diamond First Elsie 1F. Speaking of recreating Hilltop's got a roan ET full sister to Elsie's Jade a couple of days ago.

JIT,

Great sale!, I will admit that I am curious on the Turkish bidder, if it turns out legit, you should tell us they story.  When I sold computers, I always had guys calling from Nigeria, not legit.

Time will tell about our Turkish friend. At first I dismissed his request for a bidders number as just spam, but after a day, I decided to send him an email requesting more information from him. He replied quickly and seemed to know quite a bit about embryos, and about the cattle business. He said he had always wanted to try some North American genetics. I'm still not 100% convinced, but we will see what happens.

In regards to your reference about Nigeria, when I was a director of Canadian Western Agribition, I received numerous emails from Nigeria and several other African nations asking me to send them invitations to attend the show. We were told to turn any of these requests over to the International committee chairman, and these requests were then turned over to the RCMP ( Royal Canadian Mounted Police) for further investigation. As far as I know, every one of these requests I received was bogus, and they were just African people trying to find a way to get to Canada.
Agribition gets many International visitors, and in 2010, I believe theere were 82 countries represented. They are all checked out by immigration officials. We have had some defections during the show, but none for several years.
Most occured when the Soviet countries were still closed.

I will always remember the day I first saw Elsie's Jade. I arrived at the Junior show at Abbotsford, BC and was walking through the barn looking at the heifers and when I saw her standing in the stall, I was stopped in my tracks. She looked so good that I actually questioned in my mind, if she was as good as I thought.I  looked through the rest of the cattle, and they were a pretty good group. I kept going back to look at  Elsie to try to see if I was missing something. I also remember that you (Okotoks) were about the only other person there that seemed to like her as much as I did. When she came out into the show ring I was convinced she was as good as I had originally thought and she was named Grand Champion female. I found out after the show that she would start the sale the next day. I was just about as broke as I have ever been in my life as we had just lost our entire herd ( 563 head) an had taken a loss of over $400,000 from the Government compensation. ( a very long story that should never have happened).  I decided that I would not allow her to sell cheap and I would sell whatever I had to, in order to buy her. The sale started , and when the auctioneer asked for $2000, I bid, and I was shocked when this was the only bid. The hammer fell and I owned her. What was more surprising to me, was that the next three heifers in the sale sold for the same amount. If  had had more money that day I  would have purchased the Jumanji heifer as well. To date, Elsie's Jade has produced $112,100 in progeny, embryos and flushes for us. ( not counting what her daughters have produced as well).Of course there have been a pile of expenses to get thiis amount of gross sales, but she has still paid her way, as well as a few others  that haven't!! She is now 11 and is not flushing well now, so we are trying to decide whether we should send her to Trans Ova in Iowa for invitro. Embryos from her have sold to 6 countries now.
This cow is proof that some days you should just follow you instincts and do what you think is right. I have posted pictures of Elsies Jade before but here she is again, as well as one of the Jumanji female as a 10 ydear old. She is now at the Circle M herd in BC

JIT, Circle M has the Jumanji cow and two of her daughters. They are all three impressive cows. Jumanji is by J&H Mike's Cujo. We used Mike's Cujo and the one heifer by him we should never have sold.. JIT the mother of your Niam's were by the MILLVALE MIKE'S CUJO 2794 a son of Mike's Cujo and we have some embryos by him . I guess we need to get them in!

Elsie's Jade is the reason that I wanted to shift our focus back to purebred Shorthorns.
Her dam was a amazing cow and Lil Hilltop has her last natural calf, a heifer born in April of 2009. Too bad she is black!!! She is bred to Mist's return to calve late Feb.
We are keeping our fingers crossed that Elsie's Jade  little sister born here last week will turn out to be as good.
