When the weather gets warm (and hot), what do you consider to be a too hot ration when it comes to burning off hair?  70 - 80% corn?  If you are trying to save hair in hot weather and still put fat on, what % balance would you use for corn and barley mix in your ration to accomplish both?

I think if you get above 60% corn in the hot months, you risk burning the hair off.  We feed alot of barley, and have had alot of success  30% corn, 30% oats, 20% barley ,15% beet pulp/cottonseed, 5% topdress of anything else..thats just a rough estimate...not sure if it's completely right..but a ration of 30% corn, 30% barley, 30% oats, and then 10% of other stuff is popular around here..

Our ration is 60% cracked corn, which we have always fed year round.  Most of our feeding has been show heifers.  We never had a problem with burning off hair, even with temperatures regularly over 100 in the summer.  Barley has always been hard to get in our area.
