We will be showing in the Jr. Beef heifer show at San Antonio and was wondering if anyone could give us some ideas on where to stay.  We would like to be somewhat close to the grounds.  Any suggestions would be great!

Well this isn't close but its the best hotel for your money... THE DRURY INN off Airport.
There is the ANATOLIAN I think is how you spell it that's close but don't know much about it.  Sure there are some cheaper ones too nearby just not sure of them though.
Good luck.  Speaking of hotels... I know so far its a free country but the way they are price gouging in Fort Worth is really making me angry.  The place we stayed last year was $75, this next year they're wanting $175 for the same room.  Is that legal?

Ft Worth rooms are VERY EXPENSIVE this year, its because the Superbowl is in Arlington right smack in the middle of Ft Worth so the DFW area is gonna be a MADHOUSE. Hotels are more expensive because the demand for them during that time more than doubled this year!

There's a holiday inn only a few exits up from the fairgrounds. We stayed there a few times, and its not bad.

I would reccomend you stay downtown which is 15-20 minutes away.  The ATT Center area is kinda rough.  We stayed at the Residence Inn Market Square last year and it was great.  It's a couple of blocks from Mi Tierra.  There's also a Courtyard and La Qunita at market square.

Well call me stingy but I think its wrong to price gouge people more than double for the same room for a repeat customer.  Especially when you're not coming for superbowl!  Heck we're just poor cattle folk!  ;D

Well unfortunately its the way our market which runs on a system of supply and demand works...when supply isnt great enough to meet demand, the price goes up...basically the hotels in the DFW metro know that there are not enough hotels in the area for everyone that needs a room to get a room...basically from what I am hearing some hotels up to an hour away are going to get business this year if there are going to be enough rooms to house everyone...so the hotels closer to the attractions know that there is going to be high demand and people are willing to pay a premium to be closer...unfortunately its not necessarily the hotely that are doing you in, but your competitors for rooms and what they are willing to pay that is doing you in

And all calves sell for the same price because to charge more for the really good one would be gouging.  Just depends on who's ox is being gored.  LOL

Seems to me even with the large demand and everyone booking even if the Hotels kept there rooms at there standard rates still the farther out hotels would still get runover biz regardless of prices.

As far as cattle prices or comparisons... lets keep it apples to apples... I was saying its the SAME room?  I could understand paying $175 if it was a $175 dollar room.  I've heard some Hotels that haven't inflated there rates,  I've got a back up but really wanted to stay at the same place.  Still think its price gouging.
