Have a group of calves we are getting ready to sell this fall. Their manure is loose and messy. They are on a pretty hot ration with plenty of grass hay. Is there anything we can add to firm them up? They show no signs of being sick, just loose. Does drinking large amounts of water have anything to do with manure consistency? With the hot weather they are drinking a bunch!

Course , first cutting hay would be a better choice than the grass hay. Especially if it's 2nd cutting

Add fibre to their diet.  We use precon or cotton seed hulls.

Loose stools is usually too much protein. They need more fiber.
