On halloween, we (my wife, son and I) were in Stillwater for the oSu/Texas game. My daughter wanted to go stay with a friend that night so she could trick-or-treat here in town. Anyway, the university had put out a release asking people to bring candy so kids could trick-or-treat at tailgates. Around 5:00 (2 hours befor kickoff) my son said that he wanted to go, so the 3 of us struck out to the main donor parking area. Several tailgaters were more than happy to give out waaaaaay to much candy (I think that was due to the amount of alcohol consumed by that time of the day). So we're walking along the south side of the stadium, looking for the next score, and I see a man with a black cowboy hat on standing there at a tailgate, just looking like he was taking in the whole atmosphere. I looked away, and then had to look back again. It was Walt Garrison!! For those of you youngsters, he played fullback for the Dallas Cowboys in the late 1960s and the early 1970s. He was also a professional buldogger in the off-season. So then, we had to stop and visit with him for a few minutes. He was the nicest man. He talked to my son, asked him how old he was, what grade, etc., and then he took off his Super Bowl ring, and let my son try it on, and then let us take some pictures. The man is a true class act. Makes me feel better about former/current professional athletes.
As soon as I can figure out how to re-size the pictures, I'll put them on here.
Even though we got our butts handed to us by Texas later that evening, my day was already made.
