Wow!!! I attended the Simmental sale at the beef expo on Monday. Bulls averaged $4006, breds averaged $3406, then they started selling the open heifers. First one brought $6800, second one $3500, $4500, $3900, $2700, $3300. Didn't look like they were going to get much cheaper so I left. Bull and bred averages were records.

I really think the Simmental breed has got it's once issues worked out for the most part and the commercial guys are buying into it. I myself have bought some pretty good sim open heifers and would like to continue to. Compared to my pb angus cows they sure seem calmer and a little bit easier to feed. The future will tell. But at the past year or 2 the sim sales I been to they really seem to be selling better all the time.

I bought  Lot #21 , I felt like I was lucky to have got him .

I think @ $7000  + or - , he was the second hightest seller. I bid on him for a while.
