We need to add some temporary rings to some panels for a show we have every year.  Right now we can only fit 4 head on the panel.  There is room for six easy.  We need to come up with a way to clamp on some temporary rings to the panel so we can fit more cattle into the barn.

Any ideas?

we just tie to the rail and if the ropes slide put a hose clamp on either side of your tying spot, maybe with something underneath to give it a little more bulk.  That's what we do in many places that have panels when we don't take our display frame or when we have more calves than will fit.

We have thought about taking a hose clamp with a ring on it...  The shame of it most people won't do what you described above...unless we assign places in the barn.  Right now it is first come first serve.  Last year a bunch of people just tied to trailers outside.

hose clamping a ring is asking for a loose calf though, if they get startled a hose clamp really isn't that strong, that's why we just use the clamps to keep ropes from sliding along the panel

I hate clubby bulls and most people- HW is fake & overrated said:
what's if matter if there is rings on the gates or not?  If you double round your tie rope- and then tie with a slip bow, it doesn't matter, cuz the rope won't slide...

;) we have a bunch of newbies to showing every year ....  We had to go around and ask them to tighten up because they were taking too much space and they would say well there are only that many rings.  ::)

maybe the facilities should add some rings...add a dollar to entry fees for next year and do it then

That might just be the ticket.   We could place a couple of those where we want to add the extra rings...   So the clamps are enough to keep the rope from sliding?

That is what we wanted to do... but they don't want us to do that... the shame is they are having the same issue with the fair.  But they use the panels for more than just cattle shows ...so I can see thier point as well.

then in something that gets sent out to entered showmen I would state that they should be prepared to tie to the horizontal bars in such a way the knots don't slide along them and they are free to add temporary, reasonable, thing to those bars in order to do so

How long are the panels? Its hard to find a panel over 16' long and if so 4 calves on a panel = 4' per calf which is pretty standard for amount of space you get at a show.  If calves are very big, much less than 4' makes it awfully cramped for one to lay down and be comfortable.
