Ya, 4-H and FFA will teach you more than you'll learn on these forums.

Not around here they won't.  You can learn a lot here on SP if you know where to look.  My FFA chapter was the worst I've ever heard of.  We've helped a lot of kids through 4-H though.  We've even kept calves at our place for kids that didn't have a place to keep them.  They had to come out and work on them every day that they could, and it has worked out good for us.

Which I have and am very grateful for. Perhaps I ought to have phrased it this way. You need to do more than talk about what you want to do online. Get involved and do something. For example, I am heading to my 4-H meeting tonight and learning Parliamentary Procedure, practicing my web page building skills, and also being encouraged to stay hard at work with my projects. Getting online daily don't do that for me.

Talk to Stumpy, he has a template for success.  When he came to me he knew very little but had great desire.  I taught him what I knew, let him make some mistakes which he learned from, and he went on from there.  Very quickly the student surpassed the teacher.  Big key will be to find a reputable breeder in your area who likes to help young people get there start.  In Stumpy's case we let him use our facilities and equipment so he wouldn't need a bunch of cash while he learned.

These last couple post hit it right on the head. You have nothing too lose, but a lot to gain, so don't wait around.
