importance of animal nutrition (4-H speech)

Hello I am looking for some good material for writing a speech on the importance of animal nutrition. I am helping one of my 4-h kids get starteed on his speech this year. I would like to know how to figure % of protein, fat in a ration. I used to no but have forgotten it. This kid did an excellent job last year and won his division at district for his first year. so any help is appreciated. thanks Josh
