A jackpot show is a show where all the entry fees ( with fees deducted for the judge) are thrown into a "Jackpot".  The more entries in your weight or age class, the more money in the pot to win!  Usually jackpots are a county affair, but in some area they are regional with several states participating.  An example of a good regional show is the Kansas Beef Expo.

Ohio has a program called the BEST shows. they are opened to anyone but if you are a member of the program you get points for showing & placing. At the end of the season they have a banquest & give awards for top finishers in different classes.
A really good show is in Springfield, Ohio. It is called theClark County Cattle Battle. It is a two day show running February 17 & 18. you can show one day or both.
The fairgrounds are really nice & actually have an indoor wash rack ::). It is easy to get to & should have plenty of room. entry fees are $45 for one day & $85 for both. Bedding is provided. There is food on the grounds & vendors. We went last year & really liked it. I was jealous because that is the fairgrounds I showed at as a 4-her & it is so much nicer now!

OK, thanks. I don't think I've ever been to show that's done that before.

Sounds cool.

For any of you in the corn belt, don't forget the The Nebraska Classic, February 20-25.  This is a good regional show and sale.  If you are interested you can read about it at

We all went to the first annual " Hiefers Between The Hedges " in my second home Athens , GA where my beloved Bulldogs play. That was almost too much of the good stuff.
