Well we have had an eventfull day! Woke up this morning to some lovely thick fog, little did I know a half hour later we would have 7 dead calves on the highway. We moved 95 head of stocker cattle yesterday to a different wheat pasture along the highway. Had the fence good and hot but something must have spooked them and they broke the fence all but 27 head were out. Well 3 got hit by a trash truck, and 2 got hit by ford trucks and no idea what hit the others. After 12 hours of looking and each cowboy wearing out 2 horses we finally found all but 3 calves in about a 5 mile radius. Even worse these calves were going to the sale this Friday. Well we had finally given up on the last 3 and where headed to town, and got another cow that 150 cows were out about 30 miles away. So we headed that way and got them all back in and started trying to find the break in the fence, and guess what we found? The seismograph crew had drove through the fence and spliced it with a 6 foot piece of ROPE We have had quite the Monday and the perfect start to the new year! <beer>
