It is devastatingly dry in most places in our area.
Pastures are burning off and there is a fraction of an average hay crop. Combined with that were late frosts that dammaged or destroyed many crops. Some were resseded but the germination was terrible due to the dry conditions.
Forage experts on the radio on the noon ag reports say to expect a 20% crop.
Cows were turned out on JUne 14 and are running out of grass very quickly allready.
A lot of cows have gone to town, to a point where some auction markets will not accept cows unless you have prebooked long in advance.
I'm just wondering if some of you folks who haven't had any rain have gotten any relief. I sure hope so. We continue to get quite heavy rain storms here.
Looks like where I live, but we have MUCH more dry brush, about knee high. All the people with walnut rocahrds have jsut stopped watering them or picking the walnuts. The state wont let any water down for the farmers.I hope we all get rain soon
