Starting to think about a University that I want to transfer to. I live in colorado so CSU is an option but I would really like to go to a better production Ag. school. Anyone here been to Kansas State or University of Nebraska-Lincoln? Got any pros or cons?

I am an Animal Science grad from the University of Nebraska, but I would have to say both programs are excellent choices if you are wanting to focus on production agriculture.  If it is between these two programs, it really is up to you on how much you want to get out of the program, not what the program has to offer.

But if we are being bias, pick Nebraska.  hehe  <rock>

Degree from UNL, but KSU seems like a good school as well.

Aggieville is alright....!

Don't think you'd go wrong with either choice, though the purple in Manhattan could get old quick!

now I am a KSU grad in Animal Science and so is my fiance so take this for all it is worth.  KSU has a GREAT ag school in both ASI and Agronomy.  With the addition of the National Bio. and Agra. Defense reaserch institute to campus it is truely a great program.  The teachers are all very helpfull and have their doors open all the time (they will leave their doors open if they are in their office and not talking to another student) so access to extra help is usually pretty easy.  I have lived here in Manhattan all my life and for a town of only about 50,000 we have more aminities than most towns of a larger size.  Oh and the purple never gets old.  Aggieville is fun I have spent a night or two down there we have great live music all the time with bands like CCR, Randy Rogers Band, Eli Young, etc...  It is a great school all around, the town is also a wonderfull place to be for 4 years or so.  If you want any more information just PM me and I can try to help.

Also a UNL Animal Science grad but would say you can't go wrong with either.  If you would like to see a Sears National Championship Trophy (actually 3) that will make it an easier decision, you can only do that at one of the schools  ;D

I have a BS in Animal Science and a minor in Biochemistry from UNL and am currently at Iowa State for vet school. i can't speak for the curriculum at K-state but i do know that both are excellent schools with very good teachers and faculty members.
I worked in the recruitment office for the Animal Science department at UNL and talked to many students like you. what part of AG are you looking into? Animal Sceince? AgLaw, AGBusiness? Ag Economincs?
UNL has some great beef cattle professors such as Dr. Rasby (cow calf) and Dr. Erickson (feedlot) plus a great repro guy- Dr. White. i really enjoyed my time at UNL especially over on East Campus because you don't have to deal with as many of the city slickers plus it is alot nicer campus ( the college of AG is on a separte campus than the main campus that is about 1/2 mile away) -  Matt Ellicot has made the Livestock judging team more competitive and the meats judging team has had it's share of success as well. plus the football games are alot of fun ( doen't listen to aj he doesn't know good football when he see's it)
if you want more information on UNL's animal science program i would contact Dr. Bryan Reilling, he was my academic advisor whiile i was there and is pretty good about getting credits to transfer, for Ag Econ or Ag Business contact Dr. Ron Hanson
The country bar "Uncle Ron's" has lots of the Texas music scene similar to aggiville plus cheap beer night on thursdays nights. and the "Tack Room" is a small town bar in the middle of Lincoln, Riskey's Bar and grill is about 4 blocks from campus and is great to get a beer and lunch between classes and has free tacos during happy hour on fridays :-\

if you want anymore information about UNL or anything doen't hesistate to contact me and i'll tell you anything you want about UNL

I think CSU would be a great school. I'm a Fort Hays State guy. I'm a fan of K-State and nebraska's ag school. However I know for instance that the soils in Western Kansas and Eastern Colorado are different from Lincoln and Manhattan soils. The enviroments.....rainfall and what not are different also. I guess I went to Hays cause there soil type and enviroment more closely match mine here at home. All would be good schools i would think.

Wow thanks everone I didnt expect this much imput! I've still got a few years to decided, going to be a super-super sophomore. I had a rough year last year as a freshman and compleatly switched majors and and schools. I blame part of that bad experience on just going by what I had read about the shool and not asking people who had gone there about their ag department. Turned out to be a pretty poor program that pushed organic ( Not bad to teach but they went over the top). A.J. CSU is a great school if you want to be a vet but I am looking more twards animal science like JWW said.

Thank you guys so much guys your a big help!
