Hi all. I was wondering how many of you out there have or had fed Kent as your main feed before. They have a starter/grower ration for weaning heifers and steers that I was looking at using this fall. What are your experiences with the feed? How do the animals perform? Thanks.

Also, how many of you creep your calves? Kent also offers a creep feed for young calves, then you can move them to the starter/grower at weaning, obviously. The reason I ask is because there is a Kent dealer very close to us, and it would be very convenient to feed higher quality feed than what the co-op offers.

We creep our calves with Umbarger grower feed.  They usually have good bloom on them by the time prospect shows come along at the end of summer.

I'm sure that the Kent feeds are good, otherwise they probably wouldn't still be in big time business.

Thanks OFS. In the past, we've had trouble getting the calves into the creep feeder. Do you started them out by maybe feeding a little hay inside the pen to entice them?

hmm.  We have a pen in the corner of our cow barn here at the house that the calves can get into to get away from the cows (you know how calves like to lounge by themselves).  We put a feed bunk in there and put hay and feed in it, our calves go right up to it the day we put it out and are usually eating it really well within a week.

Huh, I might give that a shot. Thanks.

We have fed Kent feeds for nearly 3 years that I have been in Wisconsin. It is as good or better as any. Our mill gets the "good Stuff'" from Kent, then I mix the corn and full tank, and what ever else i see fit to feed.

OK, thanks. I did see where they haver "feed mixers" to mix with your basic ration. I just started with Kent this year feeding hogs. We have access to Moorman's Showtec™ feed, but it's quite a bit higher priced, and I actually like the Kent hog feed better. Glad to know that their cattle feed is good, too.

We use kent for all our feed needs, I start calves on HP Calf Creep 60B it seems to work great for them, I actually continue to use that feed once weaned and even through the summer on the fall calves up until august when we switch the heifers over to there show feed.

We use the kent feeds on our calves, cows, and show heifers.  My husband loves it.  He mixes it with his own recipe.  We topdress the show feed with Kent's winning fill.  We've had great results on all levels of show competition.
