I guess, I don't know what to say except that Kirk has always been more than willing to help and share advice and knowledge with me and who ever I have seen ask him. Most of the PPL that are in the cattle business are trying to make money in one way or another. Watch Kirk in a showring sometime. He takes time to talk and encourage the kids.

As far as what Kirk likes, he's just like every judge, he likes the good ones. By and large if you sit & watch very many cattle shows, you'll pretty much pick close to what the judges pick within a placing or 2. JMO.

Major hair guy, thats the biggest thing to him, watched him put an unsound heifer over a real nice simmi because of hair and that was his reason, also dumped the girl who usually stands.at the top of showmanship for the same reason, not enough hair.

Kirk's as fair as anyone, IMO.  I can see good hair being an advantage showing to him, especially in showmanship - Kirk's a very big advocate of exhibitors putting plenty of time and effort in their cattle, and hair's one big way that shows.  I believe Kirk kind of judges along the lines of remembering the first word in show calf is show - fresh, fancy, well presented cattle will have an advantage.  There's nothing wrong with that as long as a judge is fair and consistent, which I believe him to be.
