We have until tomorrow afternoon to turn in 4-H ID forms - anybody have a heifer that needs a home?  The heifer doesn't need to be at our farm by tomorrow, we just need the info turned in by tomorrow.  Breed is not real important (probably don't need a Hereford, unless she's deadly good), but she does need to be pretty good, at least close to show ready, prefer a spring '08 (HAS to be an '08), and somewhere near the center of the country.  We are open to buying, partnerships, etc.  We will try very hard to make her competitive and give her a decent home.  And, of course, price is a real factor, so unless you're looking for a partner/ showman, we're probably not interested in a $10K heifer!  Send us a PM if you have something that might work.

So did you end up finding a heifer to show?  If so, what did you find?

We did not add another heifer, although we are still looking for a fall '08 or spring '09 Hereford heifer to show at Tulsa, etc.  We still have a little time prior to ownership deadlines for those shows.  I didn't mean to imply that we were "heiferless"...just looking for another one of a different breed to have a little fun with. We have 6 heifers we're messing with, so our daughter should be able to find something out of that group to show in 4-H shows...just thinking we'd probably leave some of the Herfs at home from County Fair. Besides, I like good cattle from all breeds--always lookin' for a good one of any breed!

If you are from Oklahoma, I shouldn't think there would be a problem finding a heifer. Any breed.

TMJ-- not from Okieland--talking about the Nat'l. Jr. Hereford Show in Tulsa...you should come, there will be tons of those "typical Hereford breeders", as you call them...        No trouble finding heifers, just always looking for an opportunity!
