I'm going to look at some steers this weekend. One of which that they want me to look at is an October Leroy Brown steer. Anybody have a history with steers out of him, and if so, how did they feed out, hair, disposition, etc?

He also has a September steer out of B28. I had never heard of him, but I understand he is a Meyer son. Same questions as above.

Thanks

I've had two Leroy's in the last two years, they are heavy muscled, easy fleshing, they drag shag and thats no bs,  and very gentle. If I had one complaint they get a little roached topped, but that was just with the one I had last year. This years steer weighs about 900 and seems to be doing fine, so I guess we will see.

We havnt fed a leroy brown yet but they look good.

B128 is actually a payoff son.  He is a high percent Maine.  He is one of the best mature bulls I have ever seen.   Those cattle are sure enough pretty good.

Dragging the shag and roach-topped are 2 new ones on me. Pease keep in mind that I'm from Oklahoma, so type a little slower for me please! (lol) I'm thinking that you mean lots of hair, but I'm lost on the other one. Thanks

roach top around here means when they walk their topline gets a bubble of muscle

Sorry, i mean when they are on the move their tops come up partially because they are so heavy muscled. And also they are very hairy

I really liked the one I had last year, his temper was a bit rough in the start but overall a nice steer. He is in my avatar.
