there's two more i didn't list that were like that.

you are probably aware older societies went out and sat under trees.

The American Cancer Society has a "hotspot map" for which areas have the most people with cancer. LaPorte County Indiana is the hottest spot in Indiana and most surrounding areas, and guess where I live, and guess what else too.... So if you think you grew up in a bad area with health problems, there are lots of them it's kinda sad. I know I'll probaly tick alot of people off by saying this and my family farms, but with the chemicals the grain farmers put in the ground, it's no suprise.

Thanks for clearing it up a bit, but if you're saying that the final say is going to come down to congress which is full of democrats, how would McCain fit the seat better than Obama?

Maybe a little bit of balance. Now the Dems can just do whatever they want.  They pretty much did before, but at least the Reps had the power of Veto.  I'd much rather a good Independent candidate be in office...and yes Chris, I've had to rely on the healthcare system and I wouldn't be alive today if we didn't have good insurance...and the Ronald McDonald House helped my parents out when I had a major surgery as an infant.  And I still don't like Obama's policies.

I know what ya mean... But to tell ya the truth when you become a politican you're gonna tick off at least half the people in the area you're running for a seat or whatever office you're trying to hold.

"If only it would save one life...wouldn't it be worth it?" If we used m113 armored personel carriers to send our children to school....instead of buses, wouldn't it be worth it. The answer is (from a public policy standpoint) is no. Our children would be safe from crashes....safe of drive by shootongs.....safe from deer running out in front of buses...safe from alot of things. Wouldn't it be worth it if we saved one life? The answer is no. The answer is hell no! There is an inherit risk to be born on this planet. It cost 2 million dollars for a m113 armored personel carrier. Wouldn't it be worth it to save one life? The answer is no and hell no. From a public policy standpoint it would be a disaster. The m133 armored personel carrier would do billions of dollars damage to the highways. Would it be worth it? No and hell no. All of the good intentions of free health care would bring this country to its knees. It is a California idealistic pipe dream of brain damaged individuals. Should we ban children from climbing trees cause they might fall and break an arm. Lets make a law from banning children from climbing trees....if we could save one broken arm...wouldn't it be worth it? The answer is no and hell no. We live in a country where people who live in poverty have a car,tv, airconditioning, the finest emergency health in the world. People are trying to get into this country. They are not trying to get out. There is a wealth of economic opportunity. But No we are going to try and kill capitalism and fine tune a unrealistic utopia for the entire world. People are born everyday and people die everday. But No...lets try and fine fine the deal. Socialism works its just that the right people haven't tried it yet or we an additional trillion dollars to make it work. From a historical standpoint the USA has never seen such spending. Thats total dollars or % gnp. wITH ALL THE MONEY WE ARE SPENDING RIGHT NOW YOU WOULD THINK WE SHOULD BE IN HEAVEN AND SHAKING JESUS'S HAND. Has anyone put it on a graph or tried to grasp what a trillion dollars is? There is way to much whining going on out there.jmo It's the California model. It didn't seem to work for them. You can leave California and their stifling taxes and you can the leave New York but you can't leave the federal government's grip of controll. I think the old "ww2 generation would throw and throw their hands in the air with the spending programs". These people grew up real fast. They built this country up. Would it be worth it it if we can save one illegal immigrants life if we have to destroys the USA's economy to do it. I beg to differ. There were 1 million Irish immigrants who died of health problems. They were pleased as punch just to get a chance. But no...if only we spend another trillion dollars the USA could become a good country. Thats insane.

I dont remember saying anthing about bst or implants?  ???
Never said they were. And no my conclusions are not pure emotion. The chemical is applied to the plant or knifed in the ground. Correct? In this process residual chemicals are left either on the plant or ground if no water gets on them. Correct? What does happen when the residual chemical is rained on? It goes in the ground. Right? Where does the rain drain off the fields that is not absorbed by the plants? Ditches, tiles, rivers, and water veins. Right? Where does our tap water come from? Water veins in the ground right? What does that water have in it after this process? Residual amounts of chemicals. Although small can still cause damage. Everyone has drank tap water at least once in their life right? Chances are they have. Everyones bodies react differently to foreign substances, cells, and infections(etc.) that enter the blood stream. Some immune systems recognize the cells immediately and flock to the foreign cell and suffocate it(just a way to put it) or attack it would be a better phrase. Some do not readily recognize the foreign cell and the cell reproduces or multiplies. By this time the cells recognize it, may attack, but the tumor cells(the cells have reached the stage to which they can be classified as"tumor") become extremely aggressive, and so do the immunity cells,(this is the stage when the person becomes tired due to excessive white and red blood cell production and those cells decreasing in # due to the tumor cells.)
Now the person is tired, the immune system is weak, this is when the tumor so called"settles". Tumor is still small. The tumor continues to multiply its cells adding to it's size, and why you ask dont the immunity system cells kill the tumor cells. A: They dont recognize the cells as Foreign or Harmfull
B: The cells are evolving becoming immune to white and red blood cell attacks(and in later stages immune to chemo). Now at this point the tumor is usually large enough to be seen as foreign from the outside of the body and we begin a very long journey. So no its not emotion its fact and past experience. I dont know wether you'll take the time to read this article but I hope you do.

No this is not a copy and paste article, but I think it gets my point across. Oh and dont even get me started on the chemicals the farmers put in the air when they decide to spray on the windiest day of the year.

Heres a little article saying BST isnt guilty.

Effect of BST on Humans
An early test of bovine growth hormone was as a possible treatment for children
suffering from hypopituitary dwarfism. Although the bovine hormone was injected in large
doses, it did not affect the children. An extract from human pituitary glands was successful.
There is not enough similarity between human and bovine growth hormone for bovine
produced growth hormone to cause desirable or undesirable effects in humans.
After careful review, the Food and Drug Administration, World Health Organization,
American Medical Association, American Dietetics Association, and the National Institute of
Health have independently confirmed that dairy products and meat from BST treated cows is
safe for human consumption.
BST is digested by humans just like any other protein. Therefore, even if it were active
in the human body, one would not obtain the active hormone by drinking milk or eating
cheese. About 90% of BST is destroyed during pasteurization and it is also denatured by
processing for baby formula.

Oh and dont even get me started on the chemicals in the air when farmers decide to spray on the windiest day of the year.

along the lines of my great uncle going through the thresher, what if the state tested every baby for downs, and mandated they were aborted because it wasn't in the general welfare of the state?  think of the medical costs, education costs, etc.

remember in oregon last year, a woman with a terminal illness was given a form letter with no signature for euthanasia options as it would cost the state too much for drugs that lessened the pain.

you can't guarantee that the state won't limit health care.  you can't guarantee the state won't abort fetuses.

do farmers really pick the windiest day to spray?  do they measure wind speed, turn off the sprayer and stop the tractor when wind speed gets below, say 10mph?

again, it's not if's.  coverage was denied in oregon.  and you can't say what will be covered if i can't say what won't be covered.  argument fails.  everywhere where socialized medicine occurs, there IS rationing.  FACT, not ifs.  who gets to decide who gets what?

looks like labor doesn't care about labor.

No they dont, that was a wrong statement. But the farmers in our area do not let the wind speed affect their decision on wether or not to spray. Which is understandable sometimes because of other current weather conditions, but most of the time they choose to spray regardless of weather conditions when the wind is blowing. One day last summer a local farmer was spraying in a field outside of our house, we had the windows open and all of a sudden we all smelled something that smells like the lawn section at a hardware store, looked out the window and realized what was going on. We immediately shut the windows on this 70 degree day and stayed inside until he was done with the field 11 hours later. I cant blame the farmers anywhere else, but I'm guessing if one sprays on a windy day others probaly do too.

Is it clear enough that we are sick of this bash and slash yet??! Knabe Doc-yes I am singling you out if you are Christians as you wish Obama was then you you know that questioning a persons faith after a public confession is neither right or just. And if you question someones faith because of church attendance or working on the sabbath you are insulting many more people than Obama!!! Especially in our line of work. And if you question his faith basedon public statements on Islam read them  again for it is not Obama that judges all of Islam for the sins of a few.And yes this is free countryand you can say whatever you want where ever you want-but freedom comes responsibility and that's the rub!Take your rhetoric to the place it belongs

atleast we know what we can talk about on here.

I cant imagine that there are too many "kids" that will sit here and read these posts!!!!

The gun right thing is one thing that bothers me about Obama, but I think in the end McCain and Palin would have run this country in the ground. Knabe you sound like a pretty intelligent person that is up on current events, but in the end Palin doesnt know what end of the pencil to write with and you cant have someone like that running your country. Maybe she had some good policies but the problem is she nor McCain knew how to enforce them or put them into effect. It takes half a brain to come up with the policies and another half to enforce them and do it right. I'm done. This is getting old but you have made some good points. I'm not a republican, democrat, liberal, or any other party for that matter, my family has voted Republican since they were old enough to vote, but this time Obama got their votes and thats says enough for me that the republican canidates were not fit for the job. I think in the end it was going to come down to who is the lesser of the two evils and that was Obama.

Funny to see "intelligent" people say someone else would "run the country into the ground" and "does not know which end of a pencil to write with," where are your facts to support this?  ???

I was not going to express any comment here, seeing I am not even an American, but a person who happens to live close to the US border, in Canada. My only comment is that I hope this rhetoric does not continue until the next election, as it seems to be consuming some of you. The election is over... you have a new President, whether you like it or not... you do not have to like him or his policies, but total negativity is not the answer either.

Personally, I think there was a large appetite for change, in your country, which has resulted in what you now have. I think you certainly got change, and history will tell us whether this was a good move or not. I am really concerned about some of the things I see happening, and I think it would be a very tough situation for any person to look good sitting in the Presidential chair right now. So...when life gives you lemons.... why don't you make lemonade?

Good Point.
