too bad they can't use it on horses.

Here is the way this goes.

Year 1. Violate your principles and accept the money. Locals reduce donations.

Year 2. Accept the money, after all, it is easier to do it for money the second time. Local donations decline again.

Year 3. Tell the local center that unless it starts to get more in line with HSUS philosophy, funding will cease.

The locals, by now used to doing things for easy money, say yes.

Who pays the piper calls the tune.
