So far we have about 20 or so calves on the ground by Renegade out of the A&T Cattle Co. cows we are leasing. Every single one of these calves were born unassisted and got up and nursed on their own. They did this while calving outside in the coldest winter we have had in many years. Personally, my eyes have been opened even further and I'm very excited about the future of these genetics in our herd. He is siring attractive calves that are very vigorous when they hit the ground. Some are up within minutes and nursing within 10 minutes. Never seen that before but now I have... The cattle on feed are growing very well and look to be ready for the rail much quicker than I am use to. They are converting feed very well and look like they'll be ready around the 1200 lb. size. I still need to see what this year will bring because the calves we hauled over 20 hours on a trailer with the cows last year and that hurt their performance somewhat on weaning weights. I have attached our latest ad on Renegade that will go out in the April edition of the Shorthorn Country. I will also get some pictures of calves coming soon. They are still locked in the calving lot and it's not that big so it's hard to get good pictures. Birth weights are averaging around 70-75 lbs.
