Would giving a miniature donkey a shot of lutalyse work to abort it the same way it does in cattle? If so, how much?
Thanks.

The normal dose in a horse is 2cc.  The equine vet where I worked would give up to 5cc to treat problem mares.  She also used it in avg. sized donkeys a the 2cc dose.  Be aware that lutalyse usually causes a mare to sweat and look as though she is colicing.  So if you use it keep an eye on her.

I did read where it said a side affect was sweating. It never really mentioned anywhere that lutalyse was used in equine for abortion. I was afraid that my miniature donkey got bred by her father, due to my lack of poor management. I know that inbreeding is common in donkeys, but the person that is wanting this donkey wasn't wanting her bred. Oh well, I don't really want to experiment with anything that might cause harm. Thanks for yalls help.
