Two people have died of the human form of mad cow disease in Spain over the past three months.  It was confirmed this week that Creutzfeld-Jacob Disease killed both of the people, ages 51 and 41.  This was the third death from Mad Cow in Spain.  Spain applied stringent controls in 2001.

Remember, Great Britain has had 163 to die from it.

I am glad I live in America!

i'm glad i live in america because we are not as socialist (yet) as spain.  the disease can take a while to manifest itself.  i can remember in college putting cattle meat and bone meal in feed at the feed mill thinking this was stupid.  i didn't even like handling the stuff.  it was mixed in the same salt bin, as other feeds that didn't have it, ie feed for breeding animals.  only the fat cattle got it.  this is a protein with a memory.

In 1959, 60, 61, 62, and 63 we mixed our own hog feed and we put tankage (sp) in it but never fed it to the cows.  I am like you, I did not like the smell or handling it.  We also used bone meal.
