The biggest problem with using MGA for heat synch on mature cows is getting an even everyday consumption for the amount of time required. Most mature cows are running on pasture during this time and it is hard to justify feeding a grain mixed with MGA when grass is available. It will work, but IMO there are a # of better protocols for cows. It's been many years ago that I used MGA for heifer synch., but you can get good results with the protocol @ reasonable prices. We are usually hand feeding virgin heifers and just breed off of natural heats, but I understand that everyone's situations are different and PPL have to use what works best for their own operation.

Only thing to change with MGA on cows vs. heifers is cows need GnRH 7 days before you give lute. Still get .5 mg hd/day but you have that $3 shot. But with Cidr's you do also.
