mill slag

I am looking into using mill slag for the floor of my barn has anyone used this how does it hold up at $3.75 a ton the price is right just looking to see if anyone has any con about it

If it's the heavy black (still has some iron in it, gives it weight), it works well.  It really packs down.  The only negative I've heard, is that you cannot pour concrete over it.  I was told it gives off gases, which ruin the concrete.  Don't know if that's true, just what I've been told.
