I have the info at home. Will post later tonight. Great to see the interest!! Being new to the breed am hoping to learn alot. Just FYI, there were 9 bulls entered and the state association members voted on the top 5 to be sold so 4 of the bulls in the catalog were NOT sold in the sale. More Info coming tonight.

That's kind of different. I mean you hear about management reserves the right to sift at the sale, you just don't ever hear about it happening.

We have the same deal in Illinois. When I was President of the ISA we had this in place, but thankfully never had to implement it. What is strange to me is that the bulls showed up, and then were sorted. We agreed to sort before the catalog came out to save time and expense for the consignor.

I made the trip from Michigan with a friend.  That place was a real nice facility, just wish the sale arena wasn't a mile long...just seemed that way, think those horses like it better that way.  We ran into some realy bad weather on the way back.  Thankfuly we made it back with only a couple hour delay.  Only stayed around for the first live lot, my friend ended up with what we thought was/is an incredible beast.  Hope she flushes well in the future.  Those folks he got her bought from were real good people too.

The bull section of the sale was a breeders choice sale.  Every paid member of the MN Shorthorn Assc. was allowed to vote on the bulls that they thought should be in the sale.  Everyone one got 5 picks knowing that there would only be 5 bulls on the sale.  Unfortunatley, politics once again played a role as there were a couple bulls that did not make the sale that probobly should have (Both from North Dakota and both more commercially acceptable then the rest) And there was some big shouldered bulls that were the residue of trying to make show heifers.  They should have been cut at birth or at weaning... maybe would have made show steers... But they should have never been left bulls.  I think it was a good idea to try the bull section of the sale like that but I'm not sure that it worked.  I think they were trying to scare people away from paying to enter a questionable bull with the possiblity of him not selling.  (Unfortunaltly, lot 9 was not even there, I would have liked to see him) IMO Lot 3 was the best bull that was there by a mile!  He came directly from the old McMartin Herd.

Thomas, I agree with you on the bulls. I was looking forward to seeing the ND bulls as those are probably the types I would like for my next herd sire (have a Bonanza son right now). Hoping to sell some heifers and breds there next year but probably wouldn't offer a bull. I have a very nice fall born Sask Pioneer grandson I was thinking about halter breaking and selling there next year but will probably just sell private treaty instead. Definitely Lot 3 was the best bull there this year!!

I don't believe so as it said non-refundable in the rules so they should have been fully aware of it. I know I can't afford to do that. I'd rather take a little less on private treaty than go through all the time and work but they still got a little advertising I guess??
