We finally had our first calves of the year. The Sonny/Augusta Pride we bred to AR SU LU Tonic calved out a set of twin heifers ( unassisted ). They probably weigh about 90 lbs together. They were born about 10 days early and are now doing pretty good. It was hot the first day and things got a little tough. It's a culture shock for a show heifer that's used to being pampered to get used to two new sidekicks.

what could be better, having another set in a few on my pasture ;D
If I can keep them both healthy, I went from one Augusta Pride to three in one day. These two cost me about $ 150 ( semen, drugs, cidr, etc.) not a bad price. What is interesting is the fact that I AI'ed her twice when I bred her. She came in heat at a show and I wasn't sure how far in she was so, I bred her that evevning and the next morning. I guess I got her both times. ;D
I checked them last night and this morning and all was well but, I went back at lunch to find the runt dead. :'( She was very much the weak one from the start; but, we thought we had her out of the critical stage. I really think she may have just gotten stepped on by her dam. I hate to lose one anytime but, it may be easier on her dam ( being a heifer ) to just raise one.

that sucks, i checked the one we have today that calved, it was a heifer (clapping)
