Jerry Jeff Walker wrote the song when he was in jail with "mr bo-jangles". Nitty gritty made the hit out of it. I think the song was written on a peice of paper found in the trunk of jerry's car or something like that. Some of cross canadian ragweed's stuff sound's like Jerry. In their song If I was president they would make jerry jeff their chief of staff. I have everone of jerry jeff's records. He was liked by roughnecks and cowboys and hippies I think. ;D

He was turned to steel
In the great magnetic field
When he travelled time
For the future of mankind

Nobody wants him
He just stares at the world
Planning his vengeance
That he will soon unfold

51 Pieces (on the side of the road)  -  Cross Canadian Ragweed

You've been standin' on this corner for a thousand nights
It's the slowest corner known to man
Watch the strange faces pass beneath the lights
With a bottle wavin' in your hand...

no google ^^^ sounds like a Seger line right?

Nope, not Seger.  I can see the similarities though, now that you mention it.

The rest of the verse;

You've got just enough money for some nothin' to go
It aint exactly what you planned
So lonely you can't even say hello
And no one seems to understand...

How many roads must a man walk down, befor you can call him a man?
How many seas must the white dove sail, before she can sleep in the sand?
How many times must the cannon balls fly, before they are forever band?
The answer my friend, is blowin' in the wind, the answer is blowin' in the wind
