A big congratulations to our good friends Joe, Barb, Matt and Kayla Nelson! They had quite a day with there partners Nate and Leslie Ruby.  The Power Bull, A $15,000 heifer and a $65,000 bull.  Should make for a great Show Barn party at NFF when they get back.

Good Job guys!

Thanks Linz for the breakdown.  I appreciate it as I missed the live broadcast.

Question on the Excalibur bull that sold for 65,000.  Was that the half interest, or did the buyer double the bidding price to buy the whole thing?

Also any idea on who the buyer was?

the sale terms on him were 1/2 int and full poss. Don't think they doubled the price and it was Lee Cattle Co. from Arizona that bought him.  Rubys did have one heck of a sale.

He has a great look to him.  I just wish his EPD's were a little better top to bottom.

Lindz was right in that Lee from Arizona bought him, but they only bought half possession and have semen interest and they did not chose to double the money for full of both. But they did have that option. I agree about his numbers, now would like to see some progeny from him (but that will be awhile!). Did anyone see him? Was he all they said in the catalog; club bull or purebred? Not often you can find one to fit both...

Firesweep... LinZ is correct about the interest.  They announced from the podium that they changed the terms to 1/2 semen interest, and FULL possession.  I'm guessing that helped up the price substantially!

Oh, must have missed that one. Kids were noisy when I was trying to watch (and bid). Sorry Linz! Wish I could have been there. What was up with the bred that went so cheap? Was there something wrong with her?

I don't know but I know Hilco always brings great cattle to the table and for the Star Power to not be more than what she was especially  bred to Grandmaster sexed semen was ridiculous.  Firesweep...Quite ok.. they only announced it briefly right before he sold.

I was talking about lot 20 - went for $1250, bred to Grandmaster and was a preferred beef daughter (advertised as a Macho). Did anyone get a look at her?
That Hilco was nice, but at least at $2500 you would think they would break even at least! How do you make any money at $1250 - had to be something wrong ....

I thought that they said lot 20 was sired by US Premium Beef not Preferred Beef.  If she was a Premium Beef Daughter and the rest of the pedigree in the catalog was right she would only be a 1/4 blood Simmental.

I saw the Ruby bull, actually he was the first animal that I saw when I walked in the yards. They were just bringing him in from washing him, so the first time I laid eyes on him he was wet. I WAS IMPRESSED. That is a good bull, the kicker is that he is an outcross to Dream On and Meyer.

Really complete breeding bull, The other one that I really liked was a big bull of Felt(SP) Farms. He was a Dream On x Goldmine. I think they called him Hard Core. Those bulls had a foot the size of a baby rhino!
