Structure has always been my biggest issue with him, you have to breed him to a sound cow.  They are 2nd to none when it comes to hair quantity and quality.  May not have enough shape and lower thickness for slick calves, just breed your cow to a appropriate bull that offsets her weaknesses.

Muddy Water is one son of Carnac that look's like is going to be a good prospect for siring slick shear cattle ,an also descent hair ..
His calving ease look's really good if compared to HEAT WAVE  etc. , also haven't had any ratails .   Very good disposition on a whole ...
Haven't seen enough daughters to know on there milking ability ...have one raising a WMW STEER  an he is doing pretty good.   Don't recomend the combination, fairly straight, no verdict yet ...Stright bred Charolais cows work good with him ...

Mr. Fred, I was just going to suggest using him on a fairly good muscled, super sound cow...and I was going to ask you to post a pic or two of a couple of your excellent Carnac calves.

Hi,
We used Carnac last year and got a 90 lb. bull calf. He is stout and has a lot of hair. We are using Carnac again this year. Also love their dispositions, I was brushing this calf all over at the age of 2 weeks. My show steer last year was a Carnac and he grew nice hair even though we don't have a cooler or anything fancy.

One of my favorites is the video Freddy took of Muddy Water as a calf.
