How long can a heifer be in standing heat? Have one that was standing at 7:00 this morning, watched her all day with nothing after1:15 pm so we bred her at 7:00 tonight. Should have been almost 6 hrs after last sign of standing. and just now, two hrs later she's standing still. Next question should we rebreed her? We gave her GNRH when bred. Thanks for any help.

if tract was starting to dry out you should be about right-- if otherwise - heifer may not have ovulated yet-  think I would weigh semen cost and maybe breed late tonight or EARLY in morn-- lot of the heifers that come through here if a little older and in plenty good condition tend to be a little late on breeding times

When that happens I hit them again - either about now or very early in the morning.  I would not give her GnRh again.
