We recently acquired a Brahmna heifer.  We were hoping our daughter would be able to show her at our local show- at least.  She just doesn't look like much to me - and I don't know if that's normal for this breed.  So, what I'm wondering is.....are Brahmans supposed to be as thick and deep as the exotics?  She is also supposed to be almost 7 mos. old and only weighs 420lbs!  Any help is appreciated.

I would think you are on the right track.  Brahman are not like angus or main or.........  Feed her, you might need to do the 3 times a day routine but don't let the lack of mass get you out of wack.  The mass in a Brahman will come if you stay at it.

You're right they're not like Angus or Maine- they should have a MUCH steeper growth curve that plateaus at weaning and then takes off again then about a year.  Brahman are latter maturing in general, but up to weaning, few breeds can compete in the lbs game. Length and depth should be comparable to any other breed. They do tend to give up some in the base width and bone dept though.  They are a lower marbling breed than most so it will be obvious when she starts getting too fat. She'll get gobs of fat on her pones and brisket.  Up to this point, I'd really push a high energy ration to her.
