He looks like he is sound and will stay that way, he has balance and should grow for you. As far as a show calf he may make a decent fat steer, as a prospect type calf he will struggle against tougher competition. He is one of those calves who looks OK just does not have that one characteristic that draws you to him. He should do well at a county level, he does appear to have a good temperament which to me is a big plus. I do not know if your shows are haired but I am going to guess he will not have a ton of hair, so work hard at it to at least make what hair he has look the best it can.
The thing that matters is if you are happy with him, and he fits in your budget, if so then he is a great calf.
