New Rope Halters - Slippery!

I got a bunch of brand new Weaver rope halters, but they are really slippery, and they wont stay tight under their jaw.  What do you do to get that waxy texture off?

I wash and dry my halters before I use them. They still have some of that smooth texture but not as bad

Just on a normal wash cycle? Do you use soap or dryer sheets or just run them through

Just run them through.

I usually put a few of them in a pillow case and throw them in the wash. the friction form the being all together in the case helps rough them up a bit and take some of the slippery finish off of them
