I was wondering what everyone's opinion is on some of the hot Simmental sires out there right now that can give a show style calf with marketable genetics? We're looking to flush a Fatbutt X Dew the stroke going back to the great honeydew cow. She's moderate framed, structurally correct with an awesome front end. Let me know your opinions and thanks for the help!

Willie Morris' new bull Vindication sure looks good in his picture. I've heard that he is in stud at Nichols and would like to try to get up & see him. Registration # 2795468.
Another new young 3/4 bull that was brought to my attention yesterday was CCR Wide Range. Registration # 2725666. Out of the CCR Ms. Apple 9332W cow.

Here is a bull I am watching. I actually bred a few to him recently, I like that he has a little different twist to his pedigree.

HPF Optimizer. White face. He has a decent set of EPD's.

I agree with Wide Range too. I am keeping him in my viewfinder.

Another one I am getting semen on is WC Lock Down. He is calving ease (needs more accuracy though) and has a great set of EPD's.

Starting to hear really good reports about CCF Vision.  Kim Klotz thought he was the best sire group at Griswold's this year.

The Yardley High Regard calves have looked really good. He also has an outcross pedigree to a lot of simmentals out there right now.

Those all sound like good choices. Some of the Bulls we were looking at were A Step Up, One Eyed Jack and Wide Track.. What is everyone's thoughts on these??

I am really liking Bandwagon.  I really like all the Optimus Prime calves we have ever had.  He looks the part, just have to wait for a calf crop or two.

We bred our 10 year old Westfall Crossfire cow to Wide Track, as per Adam Owen's recommendation. I am pretty excited for that calf (due in the fall). I can say that both Adam and our Genex rep said to make sure you use him on a deep ribbed cow. I have seen him at stud several times, and he is big.

The Vision bull sure looks good but I don't have a money tree out back. Too pricey for most commercial "real cattleman" to use. JMO.

better consider houston x01. 4 heifers averaged almost 14k in texas ltd edition today including a red one from some embryos i sold out of our black donor cow. i have 3 good spring full sibs (2 black and 1 rwf) and will put in my remaining full sib embryos this spring. he is 3/4 but will get pb out of pb cows.

I agree doc sun. I'm a big fan of the Houston x01 cattle. I have a half blood hfr calf out of him and a total recall half blood cow that may be the best female I've ever raised. Time will tell. She's only a calf yet but we'll see how she comes around this fall. Have u seen his son endevour yet? Wow!

Of the Bulls you mentioned I am a WS A Step Up fan. The ones I had this year came small and are growing well. Of the mature heifers I have seen some really good ones. I think calves will have show ring appeal as well as be really functional. I am using him again.

My vote for "show ring" appeal from the calves I've saw and have on the ground would be Chopper and Yardley Utah.  Waiting for a few Wide Tracks

Semen on the really good ones doesn't cost, it pays!

Check out revival on cattle visions. He's now producing semen

Bar QH,

Will you be selling sexed semen on Revival? Have 2 cows we would like to flush to him this spring. 1st one is the mother of the 5th Overall Female at the North Central Regional last summer and the 2nd being the heifer that was shown at the regional last summer. Would love to be able to use sexed female semen if it will be available.

Eberth thanks for the intrest. Sounds like that that could be a home run. I own him with 3 others and I was just thinking about this the other day. Conventional has been moving fast enough not much reason to mess with sexed, but I will consult the other and get back with you. I own the step up bull also, moved over 1,200 units sexed between last year and present time. If I could do it all over again I either wouldn't offer sexed or only offer it at denver on the semen and embryo auction. It's such a huge pain and having to put such a huge amount of money up to get it done months ahead of breeding season. Boils down to I should of asked more for it, but it's worked out.

We flushed a cow early spring last year at Polzin Embryo Center and used Hammer. Yes, he was quite spendy but we are hoping with a good calf crop this year we will be able to sell the eggs at a good price. The one that took to our recip was born almost three weeks early but man she is really coming along and looks pretty great.  I have high hopes.
