2011 I have been particularly naughty I have expanded herd by *cough* 3 heifer calves 1/2 a coming two year old heifer and of course spent family money on bulls.

2012 I hereby promise that I will control my flapping hands, and mad negotiation skills.  With that said we all know New Year Resolutions are made to be broken!

What naughty purchases have you made 2011?

I just bought a 18 pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon. Our town has never had those before. I vow to never buy a 12 pack again. Its just not economical. I wont break this resolution.

Went to a sale with hubby just for fun and bought a 3/4 shorthorn heifer that was supposed to go to his brother's place ( he asked us to look for him)..... We decided to keep her. ;D
Renovating the house this year because we are outgrowing it. Having trouble making the decisions because I don't like spending that much money on something that doesn't pay you back. However 4 boys in one bedroom is not ideal either (plus a baby on the way) Hope the cattle prices stay up for a while.

At work all I see and hear is how the cattle prices are projected to go up even higher 2012.  This is mainly as a lot of the older guys cashed out their herds  when the prices first spiked (can we blame them?) but with that said I have had A LOT of younger cattle people coming in.  Next year will be a building year for our industry to say the least. Regardless I am hoping that what I see and hear holds true as cattle owners definitely deserve a profit after 10 years of struggling to break even.

Well , no more for me this year either. Although I did have someone call me about a hfr they had for sale tonight.
What I did buy I'm pretty pleased with. Besides the 2 cows pictured below, bought a hfr pregnancy due in March & some eggs.

I think Trevorgrey has the right idea, New Years Resolutions should be attainable!!
I think I too can make it through the rest of this year without buying any more cows :)

Well as it isn't 2012 yet I have just finished negotiating the purchase of 28Y's dam whom I had sold as a heifer calf as a sale feature.  So now my count is 3 heifer calves, 1/2 yearling, and 1 cow.  I had also forgotten to add to that list of purchased Shorthorn genetics a flush to Butterfield Lady from Dixon farms and 2 embryos by Saskvalley Pioneer out of an Elsie Jade daughter.

I am anxiously awaiting the birth of 6 ET calves by DF Waco and Lily 504L, who is the dam of Doc's Lily cow. As for whether I will buy any more cows this year, I'm not committing to anything as there are still 3 days left and anything is possible. I'm really pleased with the ones I bought this year, but I think the best deal I did this year was purchasing 1/2 interest in Shady Lane Rockstar 9X who was Grand Champion bull at the 2011 Agribition show. I have owned a lot of bulls through the years but I honestly think Rockstar may be the best overall bull yet.

Okotoks, this way I never have to deal with the disapointment. Instead, I open the fridge and smile because I just saved money again!

Sorry that old school rap song was just on a commercial and yes I did sing along. What can I say, I played basketball for ever. It was a pregame warm up song.

In 2011 we bought two heifers.  These were the first females we brought into the herd in over ten years.  I had a goal of only having cows with my prefix and had acheived that goal.  But at the State sale I bought a Free Bird Shorthorn that I thought was really good and way to cheap (by the way she is bred to Elbee Throw back and looks really good).  Then I had a chance to buy an angus heifer that I think is pretty neat.  So that is my 2011 purchases.
