Hey Everyone.....

Thanks for your support again this year.  The sale averaged $3,272/head.  Top was the Lot 50 Heat Seeker donor which I ended up allowing the option to double the money for 100%.....and they did at $18.500.

The top bred was the baldy Lot 10 at $8,250.....then Lot 6 at $7,750...Lot 51, the Cameo donor at $6,500.....Lot 17 at $5,750.....Lot 18 at $5,500.......Lot 5 at $5,250.....Lot 12 at $5,000....Lot 35 at $3,500....Lot 7 at $3,500.

Lots of really good cattle were bought between $1,700 and $2,200.  The bred average was off about $150/head from last year, BUT I guess the way the economy is right now, we should feel extremely fortunate.  There were very few "no sales", and no cattle sold below $1,700.

the few "no sales" is an important point. I've heard that at many sales there have been people taking home most of their own consigned cattle.

Sounds like a pretty good sale all things considered.. only a little down and very few 'no sales' .  I agree with red, that is a pretty big deal right now.

Yes, you're right.......85% of the live cattle sold.....and that's really not much different than years past.  I don't care who you are.....if you're putting on a sale, and you actually got 100% sold....you either had NO floor on them......or you got lucky!  Our "no sales" were all the cheaper females, which I guess is to be expected.  From what I've heard through the grapevine....the good ones are still selling high, maybe not quite as high...but high, and the more common ones are tough.  Same trend holds true with the show calf market also.
