can anyone tell me what the rules are on a no fit show

Most it means no adhesive but it can also mean no grooming products of any kind. Best to ask the person in charge what the rule for that show is.

In my world it means no adhesives and no paint.

Blow and go with a bit of oil.

I agree with LLBUX.  We call them "Dry Brush" shows.  No glue, no paint.  Foam, oil, etc are acceptable. 

In our angus shows in Canada we now have a rule that no colored products can be used, including black foam.  They stand at the edge of the ring and check that cattle with a white cloth before you enter!
