Hold on tight American! We just thought Jimmy Carter was bad. We haven't seen anything yet and he hasn't even gotten in office.

I saw a news clip yesterday where Obama was do an interview and saying how all Americans were going to have to tighten up their belts to get through this. Pardon me but didn't Congress just approve a huge pay raise for themselves!!!!!!

I don't know about every one else on here these days, but I have already punched TWO extra holes in my belt, and may need another yet.

Thru all of the pre-election BS, how many of us actaully heard ANY thing about future Ag-related issues??

This concerns me, several ways. Each year -- this great government of ours imports MORE foriegn people calling it Immigration. Then, almost immediately -- they are all or most all given FREE government food and housing allowances to name a couple. A very large percentage of these same people will never gainfully be employed, or at least not for a very long time. Thus more free stuff called Humanity to the poor. Nothing wrong with humanity at all -- but how many of these NEW POOR will we continue to be able to take care of for free when we ourselves are close to shut down ???

Yup --this is my chance to rant. I doubt that we have even come close to seeing what is really going to happen once he takes office. I would suggest however that everyone take a current picture of Flint Michigan, because there is going to be a rather LARGE increase in population before very long - if you get my drift!

I wish the best for this country -- I did my part to protect her in the early 70"S -- now -- I am really worried about her future as we USED to know it!

Have a good day all -- try to keep smilin !

I think that if everyone would be honest with themselves, everyone knew this would happen before they elected him. He is so slick that he got elected without ever saying anything that would even cone close to making him a viable candidate. The whole BS about the election not being about race was his biggest weapon and how he got elected. Make absolutely no mistake about this election - it was ALL about race and not about his ability or qualifications to lead this country. Change for the sake of change only is never a good deal. I am quite frankly very worried about the future of this country. The people that work their tails off to try and survive on their own will be the first ones to bear the brunt of the load and be expected to provide for the rest. It really chaps my hide to pay for people that are 3-4-5 generations deep into the welfare system with no intention to ever get a job or a life! Alot of problems could be solved by putting limitations on the length of time you can be on welfare and how many terms you can serve in the house or senate. I am amazed by the fact the the American people as a whole have no common sense or original ideas any more. Whine pathetically and the government will take care of you for the rest of your life. If there is an up side to all of this - maybe if the economy here gets bad enough all of the illegals will go home and stay there. Yes I am ranting - I used to be a nice guy! RW

My dad said the VERY same thing the other day.  Us Illinois boys must all think a little bit alike.

CIVICS 101 3rd GRADE

(From a teacher in the Nashville area)

We are worried about "the cow" when it is all about the "Ice Cream"

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year.

The Presidential election was heating up, and some of the children showed an interest.
I decided we would have an election for a class president.

We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.

To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.

We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.

We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.

The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.

I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches. Jamie went first.

He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best.

Everyone applauded. He sat down and Olivia came to the podium.

Her speech was concise. She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream."

She sat down. The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream."

She surely would say more... She did not have to.

A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it. She didn't know.

The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream.

Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Barack Obama opens his mouth, he offers ice cream, fifty two percent of the people react like nine year olds.

They want ice cream. The other forty eight percent know they're going to have to feed the cow AND clean up the mess.

This is one of the things about politics in America.  People are nasty, pure and sweet.

I did not want someone with a Muslim name as President with all the problems that we have in the world with Muslim terrorist, but he was elected.

In my life time, I have known another President-elect to face as many problems as he has to face when he steps into office.  He has done more work than any one before him to hit the floor a running.  I will wait and see before I start yelling like a pig under a gate.

Mr. Obama did not create the problems he faces or that American faces.

We have a lack of honesty in American politics among voters and politicians.  He might be part of that, but he is not the cause.  Look at how many signed the "Contract With American" and they are still in office in the most part.  My congressman is one of them and has voted for 5 pay raises.

President Bush and the Republican controlled House and Senate for 6 years of his reign have responsibility.  President Clinton and the Republican Controlled House and Senate during his 8 years have a responsibility.  Can you remembering the Republican line about "The Tax and Spend" Democrat party.  The largest spending presidents of my lifetime have been Mr. Reagan and Mr. George W. Bush.  We now have the largest deficit ever and it rose over 6 trillion in the first 6 years of the Bush administration.  There is no telling what it will cost us with all the bailouts.  It is really scary when the Democrats and Republicans are working together for spending in the bailouts.

I think if you did not yell at what Bush created there is not way you can kick a guy who has not even gotten up to bat.  He did say, "If you had a better ideal he was open to listening."  Griping does not count because that is not constructive thinking.  Our country is in a world of hurt and we need ideas.  We something that works.

I did not like Jimmy Carter's farm policy and it put me in the poor house real deep with high interest and my large indebtedness.  My Dad loved it because everything he had was paid for and he had the highest prices for his products under Carter until ethanol came around and the Chicago Board of Trade went wild.  He put his money in the bank and drew high interest.  I voted for Reagan and he cut the farm bill....

impose a global warming fee for having children, instead of a credit.

is there anything the government shouldn't control?

who will decide how much skin is necessary and what color it should be?

the repubs and dems are trying to out vote buy each other.  they both need to go.  i think the are the oldest average age ever in history.  there basically is NO diversity of thought in congress, or the support infrastructure.  everyone knows they are there to give handouts, so as long as the money is being handed out and everyone knows it is, everyone has their hand out.  until the people stop it, it's going to continue no matter who's in office.

you can't win saying "i'm not giving you anything, support yourself with more of your own money i'm not going to take from you from here on out."

i can hear the regulation crowd stomping their feet.  one would hope they would break them.

and going forward on others.

No president keeps 100 percent of their promises.  Let's take a look back at history and false promises.

Take for example George H. Bush's popular comment from several years ago:  "Read My Lips, No New Taxes".
