Obituary of the late Mr. Common Sense

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, Who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: Knowing when to come in out of the rain; Why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't always fair; and Maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies( don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies( adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year old boy charged with sexual harassment for kidding a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. His condition further declined when schools were required to get parental consent to administer Tylenol, sun lotion or a band aid to a student but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband, churches became businesses, and criminals received better treatment that their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live after a woman failed to> realize that  steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.
He is survived by his three stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I'm A Victim.
Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on, In not, join the majority and do nothing.

Now THAT was worth reading!

How very true it is -- for sure!

Good going -- enjoyed it but it also makes you realize how far down the pole this country is getting. It does make you wonder if all sense of realism is lost. Meybe that's why I stay so far back in the woods -- or prairie in my case -- sure, I don't get to see very many good people, but I for darn sure don't have to deal with all the idiots in person at least!!!

If every thing could go back to the way we were raised instead of the way the polititions THINK we should be raised, I do believe this country just might survive another generation! hehehe

this is really solveable by serving on juries and not rewarding stupidity.  i for one am not taking this.  i fight everyday for common sense.

you are not required to follow the judges instructions on a jury.

you are not required to rationalize your position on a jury

settled law, but no one knows it other than the nra and those who are curious about the federalist papers and a few others who stumble on it.

Don't think Coyboy Logic is feelin to well either!

Show Heifer, for every law mandated to protect stupidity, we as a society endorse even more ignorance, illiteracy and STUPIDITY.

aj,

pic is of "pet" catfish getting fed pellets.  i can't remember if i posted them before.  they are about 2-3 feet long.  my stepmothers brother, whose gotta be pushing 80, runs some purebred angus for a guy.  they damned up a creek when it was legal, kind of a "secret" place.  has a hut for supplies.  big snapping turtles there, i mean big.  he still goes out a few times a week, spreads cake, goes to a few more pastures counts cattle etc.  his wife makes quilts with one of those huge stretchers with a computer driven head.  live in a house worth probably 15k.  one year for christmas, i got my mother some "computer" time on one out here.  awesome gift.  by the way, a suggestion for you quilt designers, make little feet pockets on the undersid of blankets so you can put a bag of microwaved dent corn or other non-poppable seed in there and keep your feet warm while you watch the bowl games.  helps keep the fluids out of the ankles of you oldsters.  my grammy used those to great use to keep her swellling down.

in the old days, society allowed people to wear their stupidity on their sleeve and didn't feel compelled to remove it.  for some, it's a badge of honor.

not only is common sense dead, but so is the idea that hard work is honest.

see lead article.  question.  who is innocent?  unknown to most is one of the requirements to be in the UN is the ability to defend yourself.  and you thought they thought guns were bad.

(dog)Whew, I was really nervous there for a minute!  I thought my morning was going better than that.  That is a great story and very poignant but perhaps slightly untrue.  The rumors of my death are highly exagerated...I hope...so to speak. God this is confusing!! (lol)

O.K, wait a minute.  Now I am really creeped out.  It's the day after Halloween and now I'm paranoid.  FROSTBACK- you have to promise that if anything happens to me today that you will write my obituary...again.  That would be really funny in an ironically sick sort of way.  Sorry, I couldn't resist.
