Thanks. It will be appearing on SP in a couple of days. As pointed out the one cow was thin. It is a photo of her nursing her first calf and when ad deadline came we realized it was the only pic we had of her. It's not all bad to show a heifer producing a big calf. I guess we will have to get more photos though, I'm sure that will make everyone happy (lol)stick said:Really liked your ad in the Shorthorn Country. Nice looking bulls, and mama cow too
48Z and 18Z are 3/4 brothers and they both have the same smaller heads but both have grown well.coyote said:That 48Z sure looks like he has a small head, shouldn't have any trouble with the head getting stuck.
Maybe he will try using a new name like "pot meet kettle" when he tries to come back.blackdiamond said:since, I'll be gone in less than 24 hours anyways, why hold anything back?
I thought the one cow was pretty skinny, and that isn't a picture I would be promoting.. course, if I would quote Jamie correct, maybe it's because she put everything she had into her first calf...
cheers
That is her photo a s a two year old . The calf in the photo sold to a commercial herd last year. She calved in the first 4 days of our two year olds last year and she weighed 1198 when he was weaned at 201 days, his weight 605 lbs.(50.5% of her weight) She was the first of the cows to calve the next year as a three year old with 14Z. (we turn our yearlings with the bulls 2 to 3 weeks before the cows) 14Z's weaning weight was 681 lbs. at 205 days. Plus on the longevity aspect 14W's dam is still producing in the herd at 12 years of age.justintime said:If that is the skinny cow, I think she would be considered the fat cow in many of the herds I have seen!
That is absolutely remarkable! I have been having a major problem with re-conception, and I calve at 36 months! I have tried 30 months in spring but will only have the results on the 5th of March! Hope it goes well!Okotoks said:That is her photo a s a two year old . The calf in the photo sold to a commercial herd last year.
