I actually got to see a few decent Lionheart daughters back in the day. Not sure he'd be one I'd go back to now, but the genetics wouldn't be a bad thing to build on if they were in a pedigree somewhere. The 81U cow was pretty prominent and well promoted...a very productive and prolific female! Personally, I think the breed has come a long way since his day, and there are genetics available I'd choose ahead of Lionheart if you're looking for a Simmental bull to use. Speaking of the maternal grand sire, Black Advantage, I did have a really good Advantage daughter...he worked best on smaller framed, easy fleshing cows. Some of em could get a little hard doing, but the one cow I had was one of the better cows I've ever owned. She's retired now, but her influence is still in our herd and I hope to keep building on that cow family in our program.
