I'm considering breaking this calf, and showing her. Any opinions? The quality is probably not the best, it was taken with a cell phone. She's purebred Hereford, neither sire of dam are anything special, just typical herd cows. I know, she probably wont do the best in a heifer class, but possibly do good in a breed class?

Your right she is a little average looking, nothing terribly wrong with her she just looks like any other replacement heifer. If you plan on keeping her for a replacement and just want to show her, then go for it, you never know she may get better as she grows, she may never be great but she may be good. Is she registered or just purebred?
Go into it with the attitude that you will have her at her best and you are going to learn and have fun, what more could you want.

Her basic structure looks pretty good. BUT she doesn't look like she has been on feed or rinsed washed etc. I would give her 30 days on feed and rinsing. You will be surprised. Clipping changes them tremendously. Her rear shot thought she could have some thickness to her just needs some conditioning.

Are you sure that she is PB Hereford? She doesn't look like she'll class to me, but I like the calf and like some have said, she'll change quickly once you get some feed into her.

Yes, she's purebred. But not registered. Her mom is here on my farm, her sire is at my uncles. He's a big thick bull. Both have big red patches if that's what was throwing anyone off.

Like everyone has already stated, time on feed and a clip job will change her. She's pretty plain though, you take typical herd cows and you get a typical show heifer. There's nothing wrong with her, but I don't see her blowing away the competition and taking home the purple every time.

Many average heifers have placed ahead of some great ones because they were better Fed, Fit & Groomed.  GO FOR IT!
