I thought the same thing at first, but then worked a little math. He has about 120 days till the show, so at 3 pounds per day adg, he would be 1380 before any shrink. He does look good, but how tall is he? Seems like he might be a little large framed.mark tenenbaum said:Looks real good-but with that kind of performance hes gonna be pretty big-whats the breeding? Love to have a hifer made like that to breed a smaller framed clubby deal to. O0

You may be right. I was just looking at the kind of performance he had already shown, being 1020 at a year, and projected some performance hereafter.leanbeef said:PDJ said:I thought the same thing at first, but then worked a little math. I'd be surprised if that calf averaged 3 pounds per day from now until the end of July... I don't think he'll get that big.
He got 5th in a really competitiv class of 11 so pretty good! The best Ive ever done at Bonanza.vc said:He looks like he is on track for your fair. He really does not look that tall, he does have some good length to him to him and some decent bone. How did he place at Bonanza? (recognize the background)

This really doesn't make sense. Do you mean short bodied? How can he big "pretty big framed" and "squatty" at the same time? Those are complete opposites.

hes big framed and long bodied but short in height, not in length

Ok...frame = height. The definition of "frame size" in cattle is height relative to age.

vc said:12 pounds a day is not much ( a little over 1 percent), what are you feeding him? Yes, 5th at that show means you have a nice calf, usually the top half of the class are pretty competitive. The kid I am helping this year was second in his class with a county fair calf, you would have thought he got champion as happy as he was.
