Could I get some opinions on this little shorthorn - May born steer calf.  Thanks.

needs to be deeper fronted but looks good behind, nice set to his hocks.

hopefully some pro feeders will pop up what to do with him.

Not to offend any of the SH breeders, but with the purebred SH steer you need to get him on full feed, as I was told by the breeder we work with  "you need to keep feed in front of the shorthorns." Start with a developer, something with 14 protein and around 3 fat, at about 6 to 7 months I would switch over to a feed with 11 to 12 protein and 4.5 fat. Work him up to 3 percent and daily exercise.

So how would one feed this calf then for a late July/early Aug. end show date?  Thanks for the opinions everyone - keep them coming.

@ 500 - 600 pounds (when we bring them home) they go on this feed, it has worked for us for over 8 years as well as others
O.H. Kruse champions choice it is 11 % protein 4.5 % fat
We do select calves for fats.
