opinions on what to breed to

just wondering what you guys would breed this heifer to for a first time calf that will still be good

she is a naughty pine x cunia    crossbred

what are you lookin for? color? terminal, breed? i always like dirty harry and ali but some are going to say angus, or shorthorn

yeah in my opinion i would say carney man, dirty harry or ali, i could even see a ree hights out of her, . but carney man and dirty harry as the better 2. ali gets expensive

good luck with that...  that pedigree alone shouldn't ever be put in a heifer.  I saw this bull in Denver, walking back from the wash racks.. Actually followed him back to his stalls just to see who it was, and who  the )) would bring a bull like that to Denver... Ended up being Bartender...  I firmly believe that bull, if walking on slats, would have fallen through the cracks...  He was THAT NARROW with the puff matted down. 

To the original question...  I would breed her Angus. find the post I created a few days ago and read....  You could add in Northern Improvent ( and sons) on the list as well.  ONLY SAFE WAY TO GO, IMPO (in many people's opinions)

Northern Improvement makes some very fancy calves
Traveler T510 6807 growers and makes nice females
Gizmo- shorthorn give you a plus- gives them volume not alot of bone but lots of body
Dream On- Simmi put a different twist on things and give you a foundatoin simmi to start with. they seem to be all the rage.
Ali- Ali tends to track with the cow or at least what I have seen. If the cow is good they will be good calves. Ali to me is not a changer. I wouldn't let cost of semen bother me if its $100 bucks thats pretty cheap to get a good calf.
There are alot of good Red Angus bulls too.
If you do a seach on here for calving ease there are tons of threads that would help you determine what might work for you.

on our heifers we use our RA bull.  We don't worry so much about a show calf the first time around, as we do a live one, and a healthy pair.  From what I have seen thouhg, our bull can sire some cattle with a lot of value...  They aren't the stoutest things around, but how many TRUE Calving ease sires's ons are?  I have one Durham red fall heifer that's easily as wide as she is tall>>>>  She'll show quite well.

Northern Improvement works very well on crossbred heifers.  Good chance of getting a "showable" calf.

After the first one, Dirty Harry has worked good for us on some Cunia grandaughters.

I mentioned Ego Trip one other time and I am sure most are not familiar with him yet.  We raised Ego Trip and partnered with Trausch  Farms on the Semen and Promoting.  Ego Trip was in Denver in 2009 and almost got killed getting there!  He was on the trailor with all the Trausch Bulls that got in a wreck and totalled the trailor and truck.  Fortunately all the bulls walked of the trailor.  After coming home from Denver, Ego Trip did not freeze but was good enough to breed cows!  We used Ego Trip naturally on 9 first calf heifers.  He settled all of them and to this date we have sold 6 of them for projects and those 6 head averaged over $2,800!  2 of the remaining 3 have been retained as replacements.  Ego Trip's first calf born has been showed this fall already and was Reserve Market Heifer at the Black & Gold Day 1 and Reserve Market Heifer at the Kansas Beef Expo Ring B.  You can see a picture of her and of Ego Trip at www.rlshowcattle.com .
