Here's a heifer that we have raised . I have posted pictures of her on here since she was born just want to see how everyone thinks she is turning out. The first picture is when she was 5 days old and the others were taken 2 weeks ago. Thank you for all opinions.

Excellent for being the first one you raised all by yourself! Very nice. Little weak topped, (Standing in low spot?) but other than that she's put together just fine.

I think that she's coming along really nicely.  Did the girls do the fit/clip job by themselves? If so, they did a great job! My sister is getting pretty good at clipping, and I'm taking her with me to Louisville this week to do her first "professional" job.  She should go along with the white heifer from up here pretty nicely!

The pictures were taken at the Kirk Steirwalt clinic that my daughter went to a couple of weeks ago. My daughter learned so much and I could not believe the difference in how the heifer looked. Wish I would have taken before and after pictures at the clinic. We took the heifer to a show a few weeks before the clinic and she placed in the bottom of her class took her to a show this weekend and she placed 3rd the first day and 2nd the day next day out of big classes. What a difference it makes. Plus it felt good to do well with a calf we raised!! She does have a nice straight top line it was just how she was standing in the picture. She tends to be a lazy calf .

K, Your heifer is coming along nicely.  Congratulations on the first shows.  I can tell the calf does not have a weak top, but the hair at her hooks and hips needs to taper down further into her body to make her appear more feminine.  She looks a little course in her shoulder and short necked.  I can tell she is sticking out her neck rather than holding up her head.  Practice should take care of that.  I think some clipping alterations are all you need to correct the other issues.  To me, what knocks this calf out of the top hole is that she is clipped too much like a steer.  She needs the front of her shoulders clipped real tight into her lower neck and brisket.  The same goes with her neck; there is too much hair.  Right at the nape you can leave a little more hair, and continue up to her poll, but coming down the sides of her neck needs to taper downward very tight, and feather back, into her upper shoulder.  Her botom line also needs to be feathered into her body.  As ShowmanQ said, take the back of her hocks down tight to straighten out her back legs.

My how V changes from picture to picture.  Better watch out for the Boys!

She is out of a purebred Char. bull and a heatseeker/angus cow. Yes the clinic was a lot of fun. My daughter and her friend had a blast!!!
