This is an August 24, 2010 calf. Hes a registered Chi Maine. We were hoping for him to finish end of september. But we may have to hold on to him a little longer. He is currently weighing 1050. Looking for some thoughts on him. Good or bad!

He is only a year old now, I think you have about 3 to 4 months on him before he is finished. I would get him on some Stabilized Rice Bran and just keep pouring the feed to him.
Nice calf, looks balanced, just not ready yet.

He is a good looking calf! What is his breeding, asking because he looks almost identical to one of ours. Its almost scary how much they look the same haha!

Nice Calf...would like to see a lower rear flank.....and depending on when that pic was taken, I think it will be difficult to finish him out by the end of Sept.

Ive noticed the flank as well. Been working on getting some hair there. Which shouldnt be hard in the dead of summer he was growing hair under one fan! As a calf he sweat in the winter!

Try feeding him grain hay, it has helped us get the flank to drop on some of our calves, they also seem to drop more as they start finishing out.

I have no idea why but its certainly not a bad thing. I have to clip his head every week atleast or it grows insane!
